Aufgabe Null is a Berlin-based design duo that creates and manufactures unique, bespoke and limited-edition objects. Hilaria and Nikita von Saldern’s work is characterised by their curiosity for relationships. Their works thus become materialised observations of contemporary life.
Over the past five years, the duo has devoted most of their time to experimenting with a material that is atypical for interior and object design. The visually and haptically rich texture of decontextualised rubber granulate, commonly known from sports facilities, has long since become the duo’s trademark. Thus, the pieces exhibited during BERLIN DESIGN WEEK have also been created almost exclusively using the identity-giving material. On show are commissioned works and limited editions with vivid and carefully selected colours, but also confettiesque and black-crystalline individual pieces made from recycled shoe soles and car tyres.
The works of Aufgabe Null were presented in Milan at the Salone del Mobile, at the Paris Design Week, at EDIT Napoli and at the Brussels fair COLLECTIBLE. Renowned publications such as Architectural Digest, DEAR and Sight Unseen have reported on the duo.
The duo lives and works predominantly in Berlin and will be presenting in the KantGaragen for the first time during BERLIN DESIGN WEEK.
