Sustainable design with wood
SellaBerlin
We are pleased to be able to present the topic of building and designing with wood in our rooms in the former fire brigade of the Funkhaus Berlin. During the designweek projects by Christian Kaufmann (Kaufmann Bausysteme), Simon Speigner (SPS Architects) and Peter Hussl (Hussl Sitzmöbel) will be on display. What all three have in common is that, based on a long tradition and a lot of experience, they open up designing and building with wood to new techniques and current requirements, always combined with high-quality design. In Kuchl in Austria the highest wooden boarding school building in Europe is currently being built according to the designs of SPS Architekten under the leadership of Simon Speigner and made possible by the modular construction of Kaufmann Bausysteme. The fact that timber construction is being implemented in this dimension is due to a new focus on sustainable construction with renewable raw materials. The noticeable effects of climate change have made a major contribution in recent years to wood being seen as a new beacon of hope. The core of the exhibition is one of the prefabricated room modules of the boarding school building. The idea of the flexible and versatile module is also continued in the interior design based on the design by Franz Polzhofer. Other projects on the subject of building and designing with wood will also be on display, including those by the architects Simon Speigner and Christian Kaufmann and by the furniture manufacturer Peter Hussl, whose products have combined sustainability and contemporary design perfectly for many years
