Visitors get a behind-the-scenes look at the studio and the everyday craft of type design \u2013 from the first sketch and curve work on screen to hinting and the translation of letterforms into three-dimensional objects. Luc(as) de Groot and his team share what they&#8217;re currently working on, how a typeface comes to life, and how typography moves from pixel to volume.<\/p>\n<p>About Luc(as) de Groot<br \/>\nDutch type designer Luc(as) de Groot is best-known for his superfamily Thesis: TheSans, TheSerif, TheMix, TheAntiqua, with monospaced and Arabic variants. He designed custom fonts for taz, Der Spiegel, Jungle World, Le Monde, Metro and the Brazilian Folha de S.Paulo, and corporate type for Sun Microsystems, Bell South, Heineken, Volkswagen and Miele. For Microsoft he developed Consolas, successor to Courier, and Calibri, long a default typeface in MS Word.<\/p>\n<p>Luc(as) is a father, husband, illustrator and master of many crafts. As a devoted type technician and hinting lover, he invented the Anisotropic Topology-Dependent Theory of Interpolation. He runs his type foundry LucasFonts in Berlin, teaches and gives lectures around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Designers across the planet love the enormous range Lucas&#8217; fonts offer; they are attracted by their functionality and friendly appearance.
