How can experiment and method be harnessed for the design? Especially in art and design, the term “experimental” is often used in the sense of unpredictability and arbitrariness. In contrast to that, Armin Lindauer will attempt to explain that methodical experiments are also used in these fields and lead to findings and ideas, in the broadest sense thus to creativity.

The lecture is based on the book “Experimental Design—Visual Method and Systematic Game” by Armin Lindauer and Betina Müller, which was published in 2015 by Niggli Verlag. For many decades, the two authors searched, collected and produced visual-experimental works. They were found in completely different fields such as advertising, product design, poster design, art and also in science. The lecture addresses itself to all who are interested in methodical processes to ideas and notions.

The book of the lecture received—amongst other prices—the GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2017, the iF GOLD AWARD 2017, the red dot award and the DPBB 2015.
