In view of increasing global challenges, ideas and designs are needed now more than ever to advance the transformation toward a sustainable society. Against this background, the German Ecodesign Award is presented each year to projects that provide impetus and convince with their outstanding design and ecological quality. An experimental façade technology, artfully designed tiles made from demolition debris and a platform system dedicated to save the oceans: Under the motto “Shifting Boundaries”, three former award winners in the Young Talent category present their projects and provide insights into their further developments. What do innovative ideas need to be realised? What makes them stand out? We will discuss these and other questions with Marcella Hansch, Tobias Becker and Lea Schücking. The talk will be moderated by Liza Sander. She teaches at HTW Berlin on the topic of Circular Design/Economy and is conducting research on the topic of Circular Society and Transformation Design as part of her doctoral thesis. The audience is invited to join the conversation.

Since 2012, the German Ecodesign Award has been granted annually by the Federal Ministry for the Environment and the German Environment Agency in cooperation with the International Design Center Berlin and has since become Germany’s highest state award for ecological design. On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, SPOTLIGHT ON dedicates a series of events, lectures, discussions and excursions, to former award-winning projects – “Shifting Boundaries“ marks the beginning of the series.
