Once a year, BERLIN DESIGN WEEK turns the German capital into a platform for innovative design. The multifaceted program includes formats such as exhibitions, showrooms, talks, films and workshops, which are held over seven days in parallel at many different locations in the city. Designers, museums, cultural institutions, galleries, studios, project spaces and companies present new approaches and currents within contemporary design. At the heart of BNDNWK are issues of ecological and societal sustainability and how these are examined by a creative culture geared towards innovation.

BERLIN DESIGN WEEK will take place from 10 – 17 October 2019. The title of this year’s edition will be INFLUENCED 100, commemorating and reflecting on the 100-year anniversary of Bauhaus. A key question will be the importance of Bauhaus’ understanding of design as a driving force of societal change and how much of this remains relevant today. Influences of the Bauhaus epoch on current design approaches are shown. They form the starting point of this year’s debate.
