From hAnd

Unfortunately, there is a problem that the number of craftsmen is decreasing year by year due to cheap products such as industrial products. The “A”in the theme “From hAnd” means Asia. This exhibition presents handcrafted products created by Asian artists and designers based in Berlin, so that craftsmanship can be left to the future. The first is RAYGI, a design brand by Japanese product designer Yasuma Hida. RAYGI is a brand created with the purpose of creating new value by leaving the technology to the future by redesigning historical crafts. He will exhibit glass products produced in cooperation with Rurian, a blown glass studio in Nagasaki, Japan. The second is Tenko, a japanese ceramic artist based in Berlin. Before she started with ceramics, she also drew cartoons, among other things, where her ideas were also strongly influenced. It was during her product design studies in Berlin, that Tenko started to blend artistic processes into her design works. And almost all her pieces have a function. (Candlesticks, vases, etc.). Her aim is to tell a little story with her works, and to be able to enrich the lives of others. The last person is Park Jung Hong, a Berlin-based ceramic artist from South Korea. He has worked ceramic for 15 years in South Korea. After that he works in Berlin. His specialty is the use of porcelain with colors. They are fired at high temperature so that vitrified and has a very solid and good coloration, which is enhanced by grinding and polishing the surface, and also the surface becomes silky smooth – like a marble stone – by this treatment.
