Relic of the past

The “Relic of the Past” collection includes a porcelain set that pays tribute to the golden years of the steel industry in Luxembourg. The country’s southern region still bears the remnants of this once-thriving industry, with old forge buildings and outlines of industrial sites scattered throughout. This industry brought wealth to the small country, and generations of families worked hard in its factories. Nowadays, the heritage is partly urbanised.
The porcelain objects in this collection draw inspiration from the screws that anchored various industrial structures.
To create the set, the designer collaborated with the research laboratory of the École Nationale Supérieure d’art de Limoges. They used a combination of traditional and contemporary ceramic manufacturing techniques to produce the first prototype.
This project represents a fusion of two industries: Limoges porcelain and Luxembourg steelmaking. The design reflects the transformation and aesthetics of both heritage, resulting in an innovative set of porcelain objects.
