Svitna
An ultralight textile lamp with flexible construction
Zuzana Ševčíková and Michaela Doležalová
The Svitna project is a dialogue of two young designers. The development of the lamp began during an internship at the TextielLab in Tilburg, where Zuzana studied knitwear programming. With Michaela, who is a light designer, together they created an ultralight shaped and foldable knitted lamp. The knitted fabric is designed to come out of the machine as a whole in one piece. The development of the knitted fabric includes the design of the structure of the details and the shape itself. A flexible construction runs through the 3D knit and stretches it to the desired size. 3D printed details ensure the stability and light functionality of the object – the beak hooks or feet make distances, and the central element serves as a socket and joint of the entire construction. The aesthetics refers to an outdoor tent as a symbol of mobility and functionality. The title Svitna refers to its slavic roots. Jasna Michaela Doležalová has been dedicated to light design since her studies at the Glass studio of the Academy of Arts Architecture & Design in Prague (UMPRUM) in Prague. She founded the lighting studio Jasna in 2020. Zuzana Ševčíková Has been knitting since her master’s studies at the Academy of Arts Architecture & Design in Prague (UMPRUM) where she currently works as a knitwear programmer.
