You are free in what you show at Berlin Design Week — as long as the connection to design is there and you demonstrate news value, relevance, quality and ethical responsibility. Typically the formats here come from designers, brands, companies of all sizes, agencies, national representations, museums as well as educational and research institutions: exhibitions, talks, workshops, presentations, guided tours.
Most formats take place in the participants’ own locations, which thereby become an integral part of Berlin Design Week. We help find suitable spaces if needed. You decide the exact period within the festival days.
Other BDW formats available for booking:
One evening, one design event across the city. Studios, galleries, agencies and universities open their doors and invite audiences from Berlin and around the world to get to know their work and start a conversation. Visitors plan their tour using our online and offline maps, with routes by neighbourhood and opening hours. The kick-off of BDW. Berlin-based studios only, own location required. In 2027 the Berlin Design Nights take place on 22 April.
A hybrid of trade fair and market. Designers and producers are here to close deals — for immediate purchase or for the order book. Two days, but on site throughout, in conversation with shoppers and trend spotters. What people look for here: small series, special editions, products of high craftsmanship or unusual materials from interior, furniture, fashion, jewellery and accessories. Participation including floor space from 650 €, stand construction not included. In 2027 the DESIGN POOL takes place on 24 and 25 April.

The curated stage: voices from different design disciplines come together in conversation.
Details will be announced in the programme and via our channels.
The official kick-off, curated with Berlin Design e. V. BDN.
Festival Centre: Berlin Design Day, Berliner Format and Design Pool take place at the central festival centre, which will be announced shortly. Own formats and Berlin Design Nights run in locations across the city — independent of the centre and bookable now.
