Berlin, April 2026 – Berlin Design Week (BDW) enters its tenth year and sets a clear signal with its anniversary edition DESIGN REAL: For the first time, the festival centre is located right in the heart of the city. From 28 to 31 May 2026, Die Macherei Berlin-Kreuzberg will serve as the central hub of the festival. The building complex on Hallesches Ufer directly on the Landwehr Canal – designed by KEC Architekten (M40) and Sauerbruch Hutton (M60) – will become a 1,000+ square metre experience space for design: exhibitions, workshops, talks and the Design Pool, the two-day design market on 30 and 31 May, all under one roof.

The centre is complemented by a city-wide network of satellite locations: design studios, galleries, agencies and universities open their doors – for the Berlin Design Night on 28 May as well as throughout the full festival from 28 to 31 May. From Kreuzberg to Mitte to City West, the protagonists of Berlin’s design scene present exhibitions, showrooms, workshops and open studios in their own spaces. Curated walking tours connect the individual stops into a tour de design through the city.

The programme of the anniversary edition brings together international voices from design, architecture and research under the motto DESIGN REAL, addressing design at the intersection of creativity, technology and social relevance. The tenth edition of Berlin Design Week falls in a remarkable year: in 2026, Berlin also celebrates twenty years as a UNESCO City of Design – a double anniversary that deserves a programme that rises to the occasion.

The registration period for participants has been extended to 12 April 2026 – whether as an exhibitor at Die Macherei, in the Design Pool or with an independent format at one of the satellite locations.
