Six days, five formats and the iF Design Award Night in the same week: the eleventh edition asks what drives design and which tools shape it today. Satellites and Berlin Design Nights are bookable now.
Berlin Design Week 2027 takes place from 22 to 27 April under the motto “What’s Your Code_?”. Every design follows a code: a stance, a principle, a conviction. At the same time, code is becoming ever more literal, as software, AI and generative tools change how and what we design. The festival asks about both: what drives design, what does it stand for, and with which tools is it created today?
In 2027, Berlin Design Week runs over six days. The programme is built around five formats:
Berlin Design Day, Berliner Format and Design Pool take place at a central festival venue, to be announced shortly. Satellites and Berlin Design Nights run independently across the city.
For the first time in years, Berlin Design Week and iF Design share the same week. The iF Design Award Night on 26 April and the iF Design Trend Conference on 27 April are part of the programme. iF is a long-standing partner of Berlin Design Week; festival participants can get tickets for both events through BDW.
“With this motto, we are asking about attitude as much as tools. AI is changing how we design – it does not answer what we design for,” says Alexandra Klatt, founder and festival director of Berlin Design Week.
Berlin Design Week brings together the people who move design forward: clients and brands, studios and universities, research and industry. Berlin has been a UNESCO City of Design since 2006. The 2026 edition brought together around 15,000 visitors, 94 participants, one festival centre and 40 venues across the city.
Satellites and Berlin Design Nights are bookable now; Design Pool is expected to open for booking in November 2026. Formats, prices and early-bird terms are in the 2027 info PDF; registration at berlindesignweek.com/en/participating.
