Daniela Hensel is a professor of Public Design and Communication Design at HTW Berlin. In her teaching, research and professional practice, she focuses on user-centred design in the public sector, democratic participation, administrative innovation and communication. Together with students, public authorities and civil society organisations, she develops practical projects at the intersection of design, service design and transformation.
What do designers do when they are no longer just designing products, interfaces or brands – but processes, responsibilities and collaboration? This talk offers insights into projects at the intersection of service design, public administration and democracy, and demonstrates how the role of designers is changing. After all, those who design the ‘invisible’ today need new skills: listening, facilitating, translating complexity, managing conflict and empowering people for change processes.
