That’s a wrap on #bdw24! We’re still riding the high from nine incredible days filled with design insights and innovations.💡

Under this year’s theme, ‚INSIGHTS,‘ we explored the transformative power of design across multiple disciplines, including Industrial, Graphic, Interactive, Environmental Design, Hybrid Manufacturing, and beyond. Our 160 amazing designers and experts pushed boundaries with their innovative solutions and creative approaches, particularly in Computational Design, Healthcare Design, and Robotics Design.

A special thanks goes to every participant, visitor, and supporter. Your passion and engagement make BERLIN DESIGN WEEK so special each year.💫

And a big thanks to our mobility partner, @polestarcars! During BERLIN DESIGN WEEK 2024, they provided our visitors with top-notch shuttle service to and from our main venue, the Peter-Behrens-Bau, and during our BERLIN DESIGN NIGHTS. 💡3 – 6 pm: Wahnsinn Design GmbH designers Christoph Kolb and Alexander Hachmann will present their unique method of a „design-led evolution“ in software design – a revolutionary approach reshaping software development as we know it; they will hold a live episode of their „Besser mit Design“ podcast and a live design consultation on software projects.

#bdw24 kicked off with an incredible start over the weekend! Now, we’re thrilled to dive into more exciting days ahead, featuring a diverse program, including our highly anticipated DESIGN+SCIENCE Talks.

Today’s DESIGN+SCIENCE talk program, April 30:

💡2.30 – 3.30 pm: Barcelona-based Thomas Charles from @thomascharlesdesign, delves into VISUAL DESIGN FOR SCIENCE, breaking down complex concepts into visually captivating stories.

💡3.30 – 4.30 pm: Nicole Michel, Design Manager at the international rail vehicle manufacturer @alstom , provides a glimpse into the versatile field of TRAIN DESIGN. Following that, let’s delve into discussions about VISIONS FOR MOBILITY and the joy of travelling. How do we envision travelling in the future?

💡5 – 6 pm: BE-U @behrensufer food LAB hosts a panel discussion on SUSTAINABLE FOOD for urban areas, followed by a tasting of sustainable cuisine.

💡6.30 – 7.30 pm: BE-U @behrensufer new energy LAB leads a dynamic panel discussion on SUSTAINABLE ENERGY STRATEGIES for urban areas.

👉 All talks will take place at Peter-Behrens-Bau.

Our open house format BERLIN DESIGN NIGHTS is on this week, on May 2 & 3. Join us for two evenings filled with creativity, innovation, and dialogue as designers and studios open their doors to showcase their work and engage in direct conversations.

Expect hands-on experiences like the Handweaving Open House and Webframe Trials at @weberloft to sensory explorations like a Fragrance Workshop hosted by technology designer @__carolinemcmillan__ in collaboration with seekicks; as well as interactive showcases, live demos, and stimulating discussions, on media scenography with @tamschick_media_space, or explore the newly opened studio in Kreuzberg of @betarealities and delve into their award-winning innovations bridging architecture, urban planning, interiors, and product design. Get inspired by talks and project presentations on the future of cities, such as E-Bike-City – The City of the Future at @idz.berlin and exchange ideas on AI-powered design with hands-on demonstrations at @dayone_diaas.
