The project “Punk & Participation” employs Research through Design to gain insights into how Communication Design can foster conversations and shed light on discussions of societal relevance. For that, the project concentrates on pressing questions from socio-cultural and politico-economic contexts, scouting for new narratives. Our students had the challenge to integrate elements of both punk and participation into their ideas, without requiring equal representation. The exhibition showcases prototypical interventions such as protest toolkits, media installations and digital services. The interventions touch on topics such as the questioning of history through monuments, doubtful AI beauty standards or the effects of comments in social networks on human self-perception.
“Punk & Participation” will be held concurrently with the “University of the Future”, on-site at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences.
