Seaphony

An immersive and intermedial exhibition on the fascination and endangerment of the oceans at the Alte Münze Berlin. Visitors can expect a sensual voyage of discovery through the fascinating underwater worlds of the seas and oceans with spatial sound art and light installations, virtual reality and three-dimensional audio tableaus. Experience the sea with all the senses, the relationship between man and the ocean is illuminated and a call is made to confront the threat to the oceans posed by climate change, globalisation, noise pollution and consumption. Seaphony – ambisonic 360-degree sound art and light installation – world premiere Chris Watson, sound artist, composer and specialist in natural sound recordings, together with Tony Myatt and Theresa Baumgartner, creates an oceanic parallel universe – SEAPHONY. The 500sqm spatial sound art and light installation transports us with all our senses to the bottom of the sea. Enveloped by the spatial sounds of the largest and most sound-rich habitat on our planet, the underwater journey begins from Antarctica to the Arctic. The spatial sound art is accompanied by the fluid light staging of Berlin artist Theresa Baumgartner, who transforms light and colour play in a painterly way and seems to dissolve the boundaries of space. THE BONE transports us into a mythical in-between world between the deep sea and the universe, reality, dream and utopia and immerses us in the consciousness of a sea dweller. The audio tableaus OCEAN.WORLD.MODULES throw light on the taming of the oceans by man.
