The “Tradition Rewoven Exhibition”, supported by the Türkiye Design Council, showcases the work of six talented designers who have interwoven their personal stories into the intricate kilim patterns of Uşak, Türkiye. Known for its rich tradition in kilim weaving, Uşak’s artisans have handed down this craft through generations. Kilims are distinguished by their detailed designs, vibrant colors, and symbolic motifs, each reflecting the cultural heritage of the region.
In the “Tradition Rewoven” project, these designers revisit their own narratives to explore contemporary patterns and themes, blending traditional techniques with modern creativity. Each kilim is handcrafted by Turkish women, infusing their unique stories into every stitch, and honoring the roots of the craft while embracing innovation. This fusion of history and artistry transforms the threads into timeless pieces, showcasing the ingenuity of Turkish women as they reinterpret tradition through modern design and contribute to the ongoing legacy of Uşak’s textile heritage.
