The Brandenburg Design Award (Designpreis Brandenburg) is the state-level award for outstanding design work, presented by Brandenburg’s Ministry of Economic Affairs. Submissions are open to anyone based in Brandenburg—designers, manufacturers, or clients—which gives the award a broader reach than its name suggests.
In its fourteenth edition in 2025, the competition drew nearly 150 entries—roughly 50 percent more than the year before. An eleven-member jury that included Werner Aisslinger, Katrin Krupka and Andreas Weber nominated 31. On 15 December, twelve awards were presented at the Filmmuseum Potsdam, across the categories Communication Design, Product & Industrial Design, and Digital Design / UX/UI / Game Design—each with a dedicated track for Young Professionals.
The full selection now comes to BDW: all 31 nominated and all twelve winning projects, gathered in Die Macherei across four days.
