Moving Mold is a form-exploratory glass project by Verena Martensen that evolves the traditional process of glassmaking through movement during the blowing process and the close collaboration required between designer and glassmakers. From a single foundational mould with flexibly movable metal rods arises an impressive variety of vases, glasses, and lighting objects. Supported by the Gerhard-Bürger-Stiftung, which fosters emerging talent in the field of glass craftsmanship, the variable mould was further refined and its sculptural potential significantly expanded. Each object variation becomes an expression of individual formal freedom and process-oriented design. In her work, Verena Martensen combines a deep appreciation for the preservation of traditional glassmaking with the concept of an innovative variable fixed blow mould system and a conscious, dialogue-based production process. Inspired by spiral movements, colour gradients, and the interplay of light, each piece unfolds as a unique expression of craftsmanship, innovation, and contemporary design.
