In collaboration with VONDINGEN and designer Jakob Timpe, the Bücherbogen bookshop on Savignyplatz presents a selection of design literature engaging with the VONDINGEN collection. This showcases the influence of certain readings on the creation of individual products.
This ‘reference collection’ is exposed in ‘Displays’ – stands designed for viewing and presenting books and papers. Together with the ‘Stand’ table, the ‘Sims’ wall shelf, the ‘Indirektor’ floor lamp and the ‘3 ½’ library ladders and stairs, they are gathered on the shop window pyramids in Arch 592. This temporary habitat of differently shaped white cubes acts as a space-defining relief, entering into dialogue with the small-scale architecture of the steel pyramids.
The juxtaposition of the books and the five products makes the connection between reading and the project visible. At the same time, it becomes clear how these products, in turn, are reflected in texts and can become specialist literature. This gives rise to a circular and evolutionary process of creation and transformation; specialist literature appears here as fertile humus from which ideas and projects grow, only to become humus themselves one day.
