Weaving the Future: Contemporary Design and Living Mayan Heritage
“Guatemala diseña con las manos” explores how living Mayan textile heritage can connect with contemporary design. The talk presents the creation of the Great Textile Jaguar, a pyramid woven over six months by 150 Guatemalan women artisans. Through immersive design, craftsmanship and social sustainability, the project shows how ancestral knowledge can evolve into a contemporary cultural narrative with global resonance.
