New Products from Plant Fibres, Nonwovens and Recycled Materials

How are new sustainable materials created — from raw material to industrial application?
As part of Berlin Design Week, clothing technician and product developer Silvia Wald invites guests to a curated evening exploring material research, textile processing and industrial product development.
Experts from research, industry and design will present real development processes involving plant fibres, nonwoven technologies, recycled materials and bio-based innovations.
What happens here is rare:
A melting pot of decision-makers, researchers and product developers who have already worked on real materials — for the automotive industry, bio-based products and market-ready innovations.
This is not a theoretical discussion, but an evening with people who understand what it means to bring a material from the laboratory into industrial application.
Topics include:
Plant fibres from paludiculture
Nonwoven technologies
Post-consumer textiles in the automotive industry
Bio-based material development
Design applications
In short talks, experts will present current projects from research, industry and design. The programme is complemented by a Material Lab, where materials and prototypes can be explored firsthand and discussed directly with the developers.
Speakers
Patrick Engel – STFI Chemnitz
Dr.-Ing. Carsten Lühr – Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy
