TANAKA'S TRAIN

An invitation to a cocktail in a parallel world.

On the occasion of BERLIN DESIGN WEEK, FABIAN FREYTAG presents new works. The exhibition explores the relationship between visibility and concealment.

The staging plays with the perception of what is only sensed and invites viewers to look beyond the surface. Fabian Freytag uses mechanisms of protection and concealment to question what lies in front and behind—engaging with imagination and the sense of mystery. At the same time, procrastination is understood as a spatial principle: the deliberate postponement of clarity, the opening of in-between states, and the lingering within the unresolved. The work is inspired by Tanaka’s Underground Train from the James Bond film You Only Live Twice—a space operating in concealment, revealed only through passage.
