The exhibition UNIVERSITY OF THE FUTURE displays interdisciplinary projects of architecture, interior architecture and graphic design students who investigated the implications of ongoing societal and technological transformations for higher education. They reflected on how these changes will reshape the institutional identities and physical spaces of universities. For the project, a former textile dyeing factory from 1925 at Meyerbeerstr, Weißensee (monument listed) served as a fictive context in which to explore the multifaceted changes in the physical layout, design and utilization of spaces within university environments. The industrial site was conceived as a university hub for purposes beyond conventional learning spaces. For this project, Berlin International, Germany’s only school of architecture and design running entirely in English, partnered with the Aedes Metropolitan Laboratory.
“Punk & Participation” will be held concurrently with the “University of the Future”, on-site at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences.
