The requirements for a summerhouse are different today than they used to be. The ecological crisis – climate change, extreme weather events, species extinction – requires a different kind of gazebo, one that can cope with and respond to these conditions. The new arbour must meet all the practical and legal requirements, it must be stable, cost-effective, nature-friendly and customisable. It should promote biodiversity and be beautiful. These were the requirements when the Federal Federation of Allotment Garden Associations, the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences and the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development jointly decided to develop such a contemporary arbour. As part of the Berlin Design Week, concepts and a
a 1:1 prototype will be presented to the public.
